SCIP Awards
Each year since 1989, SCIP has given awards to outstanding members of the competitive intelligence (CI) profession. Honor those who have made a difference. Please take a moment to consider your colleages in the field of competitive intelligence who have made a difference to the field and to SCIP: contributed articles or presentations; volunteered for a SCIP professional development program; developed a local chapter or international affiliate. Current SCIP awards include the Catalyst Awards, Faye Brill Service Award, the Meritorious Award, Fellows Award, and Best Presentation Award. Criteria for these awards are interpreted so that outstanding practitioners, vendors, and academics have equal eligibility. Our next awards ceremony will be held at SCIP's 2010 Annual Conference in Washington D.C. Meritorious Award Each year SCIP recognizes up to one individual who has made significant and meritorious contributions to the CI profession. The Meritorious Award is the highest honor bestowed by SCIP.
Eligibility and Award Criteria Candidates for the Meritorious Award may come from any field, including academia, business, and government. The candidate does not have to be a SCIP member, although the extent by which a candidate contributes to SCIP may have implications during the Meritorious Award evaluation process. An active member of the SCIP board of directors is not an eligible candidate for the Meritorious Award. Whatever their career, candidates must have made a significant and meritorious contribution to the competitive intelligence profession. That contribution must be documented and supported by several individuals who can personally attest to the importance of the candidate’s contribution.
Professional actions and/or achievements that would qualify a candidate for a Meritorious nomination would include, but not be limited to the following: Advanced, nurtured, and promoted the CI profession across disciplines - in the academic, government, and business communities; Achieved notable publicity for CI as a result of personal accomplishments; Achieved recognition and respect from CI peers in the academic, government and business communities; Improved the public understanding of the CI profession; and Practiced and advanced high ethical standards.
