Program
Case studies will be presented on two companies that are consistent innovators: Novamont, an Italian bioplastics company, and ketchup giant Heinz.  Both companies are tied economically to resource sustainability, one for manufacturing feedstock and one for cost considerations. Two key points will be made:
 
     --Innovation can be found all along the value chain, not just in product development.

     --Strategic planners need coordinated CI support across the value chain.

Following a brief presentation on the two case studies, attendees will be invited to brainstorm regarding the competitive environment in these two cases.

Speaker
Dr. Martha R. Matteo, SCIP Fellow (2010) and Past President, will chair the session. Dr. Matteo has been active in SCIP since 1989.  She recently retired from the pharmaceutical industry, where she founded a company-wide effort in Competitive Technical Intelligence.  Throughout her industrial career, Dr. Matteo has collaborated across functions to ensure inter-disciplinary support for corporate and local decision-makers.  For this session, she looks forward to representation from all aspects of CI/decision-support.
