SCIP Wisconsin Joint Meeting with PDMA

Competitive Intelligence, Innovation Dynamics,
and Anticipating Industry Change
Presenter: Arik Johnson, Aurora WDC

Vision, Development Process and Strategy of Fly Boy Carnival
Presenter:  Kevin Burgess, Fly Boy Carnival

Thursday, September 17th, 2009      4:30PM  - 7:00PM
Direct Supply      Milwaukee, WI

Description
Competitive intelligence has traditionally been focused on understanding risk in the industry and market environment. But as growth today is driven more by innovation than competition, anticipating how changing trends will influence a firm's ability to capture market share is the key to creating sustainable innovation over the long run.

In this session, we'll discuss a few simple techniques that can help everyone in the organization engage as part of a virtual intelligence team to help any enterprise take advantage of changes before being taken advantage of by them.

Speaker
Arik Johnson is founder, chairman and chief executive of the intelligence think tank and research bureau Aurora WDC. As managing director and architect of Aurora’s consulting business, Arik works with organizations of all kinds to develop their intelligence apparatus to anticipate, monitor, detect and interpret change in their business environment. He is a frequent and popular speaker worldwide on topics that intersect his interest in subjects such as understanding emergent phenomena, anticipatory cognition and decision making in business, science, government and culture. He writes about his ideas at his company’s website, www.AuroraWDC.com.

Arik is a Fellow of the Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals and has chaired SCIP’s annual international conference in 2006, served on SCIP’s board of directors from 2004 through 2006, won SCIP’s Catalyst award in 2005, and earlier served as a chapter coordinator and as a trustee and development committee chair of the CI Foundation.
