Friend or Foe?  How Beneficial are Social Networks to
Competitive Intelligence Professionals?

January 26, 2010     11:30AM-12:30PM C.S.T.

Description
Ellen Naylor will present the strengths and weaknesses she has experienced with social networks focusing mostly on LinkedIn and Twitter, since they are the best overall social networks for CI professionals.    They can also be huge time consumers, and like any other form of research and or/networking, need to be used expeditiously.  She will provide examples of ways to use both social networks to find goods sources. She will also provide examples where they were ineffective and/or would have been a huge waste of time.

About The Speaker
Ellen Naylor:  Prior to forming Business Intelligence Source in 1993, Ellen initiated a competitive intelligence operation at Bell Atlantic (Verizon subsidiary) and conducted financial CI and forecasting at Northwest airlines.  Business Intelligence Source’s sweet spot is integrating intelligence gathered by sales, marketing, product development, customers, and the competition; and teaching clients “HOW” to collect & organize intelligence, most notably through elicitation and good communication.  She is developing cooperative intelligence www.thecisource.com/coopintel, which builds strong people skills around leadership, connection and communication, often weaker skills of CI professionals.

Ellen has held numerous leadership positions at SCIP since 1990.  She is a sought-after global speaker www.thecisource.com/workshops and thought leader as evidenced by articles in CI Magazine www.thecisource.com/publications and her blog http://cooperativeintelligenceblog.com.
