Presentation

Dr. Reuer will discuss inorganic growth through alliances and acquisitions. In this interactive session, we will go through a strategy framework that helps executives decide when to use each of these external corporate development activities. We will also consider alternative deal structures such as contractual partnerships, minority equity partnerships, joint ventures, and earnouts in M&A.  Based on Dr. Reuer’s research in biopharmaceuticals, we will drill down into some of the key elements of alliance design and governance: e.g., boards for joint ventures, steering committees for nonequity alliances, and payment structures in R&D partnerships.

Speaker: Dr. Jeffrey Reuer

He has also taught in executive education programs at Harvard Business School, Duke University, INSEAD, the Indian School of Business, the University of Mannheim, the University of St. Gallen, and Peking University. He is the recipient of several MBA teaching awards, and is the author of nine published or forthcoming books. He has presented his research at more than 100 universities globally.
