The news is constantly talking about security breaches with exposed credit and debit card information. Is there anything we can do to stop this? Meet the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). The PCI DSS is a control standard that was introduced in 2004, and has been an evolving document ever since. This standard is a result of 5 major payment card brands (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB) coming together to unify their security requirements. This standard can be daunting, with over 250 controls, but can also be used to improve the overall security of your organization.
