Help Those Affected by Hurricane Harvey

SCIP is among the many organizations and individuals that are donating funds to the Salvation Army to assist with relief efforts in Texas and other areas affected by Hurricane Harvey. Given the dire circumstances that will continue for some time, we ask the SCIP community to assist in any way possible.  Donate directly to SCIP, 100% donation from our members will be collected and sent to the Salvation Army.

Here are some options to consider:

Salvation Army is asking people to donate money on its website or to Text STORM to 51555 to donate.

Other organizations that are engaged in relief efforts include The Red Cross, Samaritan’s Purse, and Heart to Heart International.

The crowdfunding site GlobalGiving is also working to raise $2 million to provide emergency supplies like food, water and medicine to survivors of the storm in addition to longer-term recovery efforts. By Aug. 29, they had raised nearly $1.3 million.

Individuals and corporations can also donate to relief efforts through National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, an association of organizations that seek to mitigate and alleviate the impact of disasters.
