To our friends and colleagues planning to attend SCIP IntelliCon 2020 and those still considering joining us in Chicago, we appreciate your commitment to our organization.

We want you to know that your health and safety is a top priority for SCIP. SCIP is committed to doing everything we can to make IntelliCon 2020 as safe and welcoming as possible, given concerns with the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak. Keeping this in mind, we are continuing to move forward with IntelliCon 2020, May 11-13 outside of Chicago, IL.

While Chicago and the surrounding areas have so far seen very few cases of COVID-19, some basic precautions as emphasized by the U.S. CDC, should be practiced. These include:

  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Stay home (or in your hotel room) if you are sick
  • When coughing or sneezing:
    • Cover your mouth and nose with your arm or tissues to reduce the spread of germs
    • Immediately dispose of any tissues you have used into the garbage as soon as possible and wash your hands afterwards

This safety message will be reinforced throughout IntelliCon and additional health and safety practices will be put in place onsite. While the risks remain low, we also encourage you to follow sound prevention strategies and refrain from direct contact with other attendees, such as handshakes, when greeting your fellow conference attendees.

We will continue to monitor the situation and follow the CDC’s recommendations if there are additional restrictions on domestic travel and events in the Chicago area alongside keeping you informed of any changes.

Thank you again for your commitment to SCIP. We are looking forward to showcasing the changes made at IntelliCon and hope you will be able to join us.

If you have any additional questions or concerns regarding IntelliCon, please reach out to myself or memberservices@scip.org.

Thank you,
Cam Mackey
