Jeffrey P. Cohan is the Director of Libraries and Knowledge Management Services at Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper, and Scinto since 2005, has over 25 years of experience conceiving and implementing competitive intelligence initiatives in a legal service environment. The creation and leverage of regular practices to mine and analyze legal and business information sources as well as social media, the creation and adoption of KM tools including CRM applications meant to create experience and relationship databases, and the effective resolution aimed at addressing needs throughout the legal services business cycle, both strategic and tactical, have fueled his career trajectory. At the same time, he has embraced new technologies that have greatly enhanced the cost efficiency associated with these goals, and in some instances, even made them possible.
Early in his career, in the largely analog world, he authored several articles discussing the potentials of web based information sources and architecture to allow librarians greater latitude in the selection and placement of information and research tools on an intranet, potentials for storage and information sharing, and enhanced recall and indexing abilities.
Jeff has acted as a mentor to others as well, and been recognized by his peers. Throughout his tenure at Fitzpatrick, on behalf of his firm, he has offered an internship program to law and library students that has focused on competitive intelligence as applied to business development and retention in a legal service environment, and has also encompassed means and strategies for knowledge management in this area. In 2008, he served as President of the Law Library Association of Greater New York, as well as serving on the Board of Directors for a three year term. Prior to that he served as Treasurer of the New Jersey Law Librarians Association, and had served as chairperson for various committees in his local law library organizations.

Jeff has a B.A in History and a B.A in Religion from Rutgers College, Rutgers University, and a Masters of Library and Information Science. from Rutgers University School of Communication and Information. He also has a paralegal certificate from St. Peter’s College.
